SUMMARY:French Heritage Corridor Fourth Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:“What’s Cooking: Creating Collaboration in the French Heritage Corridor” \nFriday\, May 17- Sunday\, May 19\, 2024 \nFrench Heritage Corridor\, an initiative conceived and led by the French Heritage Society Chicago-Midwest Chapter\, comprises seven states in the Midwest (IA; IL; IN; MI; MN; MO and WI). This network\, joined by waterways connecting with the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes\, transcends borders to recreate in the Midwest what was once la Nouvelle France.  \nThe French Heritage Corridor is dedicated to developing synergy and raising the collective awareness about the rich French history and heritage that has\, since the 17th century\, melded with the vibrant multicultural landscape in what is today the Midwestern United States. \nThe 2024 conference will be held in Monroe\, Michigan. \nFor more information on the daily program and hotel reservations: \nhttps://mailchi.mp/c100a0b5a5b5/fhs_chicago_carnaval_3-2692044?e=ea5ef8823b \nReservations will be available soon. \nMay 17th\, at 2;00 p.m. \nA great opportunity to be involved if not signing up for the whole conference: \nJoin in for a special tour of the Basilica of Ste Anne de Detroit\, ringing of the carillon\, and a FHS/FHC plaque presentation ceremony for the completed 2024 grant restoration work. \nThe Basilica of Ste Anne is one of the FHC 2024 grant recipients\, with monies allocated for the restoration of the church’s carillon bell.  \nThis event is open to the public\, in conjunction with the City of Detroit\, Visit Detroit and Leaders of the Francophone Community.  \nIf you would like to attend as part of the AF Grosse Pointe group\, please email Dr Ann McReynolds at mcmench@gmail.com  \nPossible meetup and carpooling to be planned.
