DESCRIPTION:Artist Selfies: Portraits From Paris \nCelebrities\, influencers\, and social media enthusiasts use selfies daily and have mastered “the pose” for their postings. But they have certainly not invented the Selfie.  \nThis presentation looks at self-portraits created by artists working in France.  Vincent van Gogh used his face as a free model to try out painting styles. Artists as different as Elisabeth-Louise Vigée and Gustave Courbet who both painted themselves with their palette and brushes. Others examine themselves in more unusual ways. \nPresenter Wendy Evans is an art historian with advanced degrees from Oxford University\, England and Wayne State University\, Detroit. She taught art history at Wayne\, the Detroit Institute of Arts\, and gives a monthly art history course on Zoom. She loves to share her passion for art.
